You have this funny feeling in your stomach and it certainly does not feel like you have butterflies in there. Instead, it feels like your lower body are stiffening and you can’t sit down for more than 5 minutes without fidgeting about. Your legs starts to feel heavy and sore and you feel stressed out for no apparent reason. So how exactly do you know these are constipation signs or you just have wind inside your stomach, or something else altogether?

-

Frequency of Bowel Movement

Figure out how often you have the urge to go to the toilet for passing stool. A normal adult can visit the toilet for this from once a day to once every four days and that is considered the normal timing. However, if your bowel movement is less than once a week then there is a good chance that you have constipation problem. Stools are not supposed to stay inside your bowels for so long as you want them to get out as soon as possible. So a sudden plunge in toilet frequency should give serve as the first warning sign.

-

Reduced Appetite

If you could have eat 2 whole orders of chicken chop yesterday, but suddenly now you’re only eating half of what you’re used to, then that could also be a constipation sign. When you do not dispose of your stool, it will just wait inside the bowels. This will take up space inside your intestine thus making it feels as if your stomach is still full. It will also make you feel tired and lethargic the whole day since you actually didn’t eat enough food to give you the energy you need for your daily activities.

-

Difficulty in Passing Stool

You sit down on the toilet and you feel that the stool is getting harder to get out. You should have to push extra harder to get it out and you can feel the surface of the stool is rough and large. It can also come out in the size of a pebble. This is also one of the constipation signs you should look out for. Stools that are hard and rough are signs that show you haven’t been eating enough fiber or drinking enough water in your diet. Fiber helps to group up the stool properly while water helps to move the stool out faster.

-

That Unfinished “Feeling”

You sat down there for 30 minutes and no bowel movements are happening. You know you should be done but even as you walk out of the toilet, you feel that you’re not done with your bowel movement. This feeling comes from the stool getting stuck at the walls of the rectum or getting stuck at the connection between the large intestine and rectum.

-

Need to Massage

As you are doing your bowel movement, you feel like massaging your stomach or putting pressure at your lower abdomen because you feel like something inside refuses to move. What you think is true because the stool got too large and rough, making it harder to go through your intestine to the rectum.

When you feel any kind of signs above, it is all pointing at a constipation problem. You can try curing yourself slowly from constipation by eating more high fiber food and drink more water. However if you want to get quick constipation relief then you will have to get over the counter laxative.
